Tigris is an Afrodelic Power Pop band composed of five unrestrained musicians. Deeply influenced by Ethiopian, West African and even Caribbean sounds from the 70's as well as modern pop, electronic and rock music, the band strives to create an original futuristic mood-altering ear candy.

Traditional grooves deconstructed and reconstructed with an explosive modern feel, addictive melodies and rich yet succinct harmonies are all wrapped in a psychedelic sound and texture.

The different musical background and virtuosity of each member produces together a unique sound of a new tribe that has just been discovered in the deep jungles of the universe.

Biography

Tigris is an Afrodelic Power Pop band composed of five unrestrained musicians. Charged with hunger and curiosity the band devours sounds from hidden corners of the world and fuses them into an original futuristic ear candy.

The band pulls from East and West African music into a brand new and surprising musical center. Traditional grooves are deconstructed and reconstructed with an explosive modern feel, addictive melodies and rich yet succinct harmonies are all wrapped in a psychedelic sound and texture.

Tigris have been playing in Clubs, Bars, Live Venues and Music Festivals all over Israel since 2014 and also toured in Germany in the summer of 2015.

Tigris can be considered a supergroup, as members of the band each take part in different leading acts in the local music scene. Ilan Smilan is one of the most sought after guitar players in Tel Aviv, playing with the roots-reggae sensation 'Zvulun Dub System' as well as heading the local Afrobeat group 'Hoodna Orchestra'.

Also in the orchestra is bass master Amir Sadot who together with keyboardist Roy Harmon formed 'Armon'- a dream-pop up n' coming phenomenon. Roy is also an accomplished trumpet player and part of the famous Israeli singer Evyatar Banai's live band.

After studying in Brazil and Senegal, percussionist Oded Aloni plays around the globe with Israel's craziest brass band 'Marsh Dondurma' and the Israeli choro ensemble 'Chorol'e'.

Percussionist/drummer Ben Aylon studied Senegalese drumming in Africa and later developed his own style and drum set which allows him to perform his solo act, justly called "One Man Tribe". Ben also co-founded 'Gulaza', a Yemenite/African fusion ensemble and frequently plays with bass legend Yossi Fine.

The different musical background and virtuosity of each member produces together a unique sound of a new tribe that has just been discovered in the deep jungles of the universe.
